Job Summary
Holy Cross Hospital is seeking a committed, compassionate, energetic, and skilled Speech and Language Therapist to join our dedicated clinical team. Reporting to our Director of Therapy Services, you will be part of a Multidisciplinary Team providing high-standard speech and language therapy services to patients with neurological problems. This role involves performing assessments, diagnosis, planning, and delivering individualized treatment programmes.
You will be responsible for managing a highly complex and demanding caseload of patients with physical disabilities, neurological conditions, severe or profound learning difficulties, and complex needs. Main Duties of the Job
As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will provide specialist intervention demonstrating clinical effectiveness through evidence-based practice and outcome measures. You’ll adapt practices to meet individual patients’ needs while maintaining high professional standards. Your work will involve utilizing various service delivery models including individual, joint, multidisciplinary, and group sessions.
You will develop and implement speech and language programmes for individuals and groups, using your expertise to create innovative and effective ways of working. This role requires the ability to undertake comprehensive assessments of patients with diverse and complex presentations, using advanced clinical reasoning skills and assessment techniques to record baseline measures.
Developing comprehensive discharge plans in negotiation with patients and carers will be a key responsibility. You’ll assess patient understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid informed consent, and work within legal frameworks with patients lacking capacity to consent to treatment. The position also involves making recommendations for developing SLT services and contributing to service protocols.
