Main Purpose of the Role

The successful candidate will work as part of a multi/interdisciplinary team providing speech and language therapy input within the BIRT neurobehavioral model to People We Support with acquired brain injury (ABI). This role involves liaising with internal and external professionals, family members, and the individuals we support.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical/Professional Practice

Work within a specialist clinical area as an autonomous professional with support and supervision (which may be remote) from a more senior SaLT for more complex cases. Accept professional accountability and responsibility for your practice.

Neurobehavioral Approach

Apply the neurobehavioral approach to brain injury, demonstrating knowledge of current research findings and best practice in the field. Stay updated with the latest developments in speech and language therapy for brain injury rehabilitation.

Caseload Management

With supervision as required, manage a caseload of People We Support with complex mental/physical health needs and/or challenging behaviour. Ensure appropriate assessment and intervention planning for each individual.

Evidence-Based Practice

Use evidence-based practice, service user-centred principles, and clinical reasoning to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate intervention strategies. Ensure all therapeutic approaches are grounded in current research and best practices.

Comprehensive Assessments

With supervision as required, undertake comprehensive assessments considering environment, context, and future plans of People We Support in order to formulate appropriate rehabilitation goals, care plans, communication and dysphagia therapy programmes, referrals, and communication partner training.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for candidates with recognized qualifications in Speech and Language Therapy and relevant experience in neurorehabilitation. The ideal candidate will have experience working with acquired brain injury patients and be registered with the appropriate professional body.

Certificate of Sponsorship

Visa Requirements
