Job Overview
We are seeking a Senior Clinical Psychologist with a passion for working with children and adolescents with physical health problems who are experiencing psychological, emotional, and social difficulties. You will join a highly valued team at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital, providing comprehensive psychological services to children, young people, and their families.
The position offers opportunities to further develop your knowledge and skills in clinical leadership, supervision, service development, consultation, and training. Continuing Professional Development is actively supported, and we have close links with the North Wales Clinical Psychology Programme, including providing trainee placements.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Clinical Psychologist, you will provide highly specialist psychological assessment and therapeutic intervention across child health psychology. You will work closely with consultant paediatricians, specialist nurses, and other medical MDT colleagues to deliver holistic care to your clients.
Your duties will include providing a specialised clinical psychology service, working autonomously in accordance with The British Psychological Society Code of Conduct, and exercising delegated responsibility for the management and supervision of assistant psychologists and trainees within the team framework.
Person Specification
We are looking for candidates with a Doctoral level qualification in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or overseas), eligibility for Graduate membership of the British Psychological Society, and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
Essential qualifications include clinical supervision training for Doctoral Trainees and advanced knowledge of clinical psychology theory and practice, psychological therapies, neuropsychological and psychometric assessment. Previous experience in a similar role is strongly preferred.
