We pride ourselves on using only the freshest ingredients, traditional preparation methods, and exceptional customer service. Our restaurant is known for its warm atmosphere, elegant presentation, and commitment to culinary excellence. As we continue to grow, we’re seeking a dedicated Restaurant Manager to help us maintain our reputation while implementing new strategies for success in an increasingly competitive market.
Key Responsibilities
As Restaurant Manager at Genji Japanese Restaurant, you’ll play a crucial role in our daily operations and long-term success. Your primary responsibilities will include analyzing our budget to boost and maintain the restaurant’s profits, developing comprehensive budgets to determine the cost of food, ingredients, alcohol, and various supplies. You’ll evaluate daily operations to identify areas for improvement and implement changes that enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Financial Management
You’ll be expected to modify food preparation methods and menu prices according to the restaurant budget, ensuring optimal profitability while maintaining quality standards. Monitoring revenues to determine labor costs is essential, as you’ll need to balance staffing levels with business demands. Additionally, you’ll maintain detailed records of food costs, consumption patterns, sales data, and inventory levels to inform business decisions and financial planning.
Operational Excellence
Daily operational oversight will be a significant part of your role. You’ll plan and organize daily operations to ensure smooth functioning of all restaurant activities, from kitchen operations to front-of-house service. Conducting regular performance reviews will help you maintain high standards among staff while identifying opportunities for professional development. You’ll enforce all provincial/territorial liquor legislation and regulations to ensure compliance and safety in our establishment.
Inventory and Supply Management
Effective inventory management is critical to restaurant success, and you’ll be responsible for organizing and maintaining our inventory systems. This includes negotiating arrangements with suppliers for food and other supplies to secure the best quality products at competitive prices. You’ll also plan and approve requisitions for food and kitchen supplies, ensuring we have everything needed to meet customer demand while minimizing waste and spoilage.
Leadership and Staff Management
Your leadership skills will be put to the test as you recruit, organize, train, and manage our staff team. Leading and instructing individuals effectively requires clear communication, patience, and the ability to motivate diverse teams. You’ll train staff in preparation, cooking, and proper handling of food to maintain our commitment to quality and food safety standards. As part of your management duties, you’ll also be responsible for preparing and cooking meals or specialty foods during peak periods or special events.
Customer Experience
Ensering exceptional customer experiences is at the heart of our restaurant philosophy. You’ll address customers’ complaints or concerns promptly and professionally, turning potentially negative experiences into opportunities for building loyalty. Providing outstanding customer service will be a key priority as you model these behaviors for your team and implement strategies to enhance the overall dining experience at Genji Japanese Restaurant.
Quality Assurance
Maintaining the highest quality standards is non-negotiable at our establishment. You’ll plan menus that reflect authentic Japanese cuisine while appealing to diverse customer preferences. Ensuring that all food meets our quality standards involves rigorous attention to detail, consistency in preparation, and ongoing evaluation of customer feedback. You’ll implement systems to maintain these standards across all aspects of restaurant operations.
Health and Safety Compliance
As Restaurant Manager, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that all health and safety regulations are followed in our kitchen and dining areas. This includes implementing proper food handling procedures, maintaining clean and organized workspaces, and conducting regular safety audits. Your commitment to health and safety will protect both our staff and customers while maintaining our restaurant’s reputation for excellence.
Requirements and Qualifications
While specific education and experience requirements weren’t detailed in the job posting, successful candidates typically bring several years of restaurant management experience to the role. Familiarity with Japanese cuisine and food preparation methods would be considered an asset. Strong leadership skills, financial acumen, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this position.
Language Skills
Proficiency in English is required for effective communication with staff, suppliers, and customers. Knowledge of Japanese would be beneficial given our restaurant’s focus on authentic Japanese cuisine, but it’s not mandatory. For immigrant candidates, demonstrating strong English language skills will be important for success in this role and integration into the Canadian workplace.
