Position Details

This permanent part-time Consultant position offers an attractive salary range of £110,240 to £160,951 per annum pro rata, reflecting your expertise and experience in respiratory medicine. Main Duties and Responsibilities

As a Respiratory Consultant, you will provide, in collaboration with consultant colleagues, a comprehensive service in General Medicine while supporting the development of sub-specialty interests to both hospital and community settings. Your primary responsibility will encompass the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of respiratory illnesses, ensuring the highest standards of patient care.

Clinical Leadership

You will work in close cooperation with clinical, medical professional, and managerial colleagues to provide high-quality healthcare to our patients. As a senior employee of the Health Board, you will demonstrate clinical leadership, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our respiratory services.

Professional Accountability

All clinical staff are accountable and responsible for maintaining their own clinical competence and should limit their actions to those for which they are deemed competent. You will be expected to comply with the requirements of your professional organization regarding supervision and participate actively in clinical governance activities.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this position, you must possess Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice. You should be on the Specialist Register with GMC or have CCT due within 6 months of the interview date. MRCP certification is essential, along with broad-based experience in General Internal Medicine and respiratory specialties.

Clinical Experience Requirements

Desirable Qualifications

Wider experience, research, and training in providing sub-specialty services are highly desirable, as is evidence of above-average performance and additional clinical qualifications that enhance your respiratory medicine expertise.

Clinical Governance and Research

You should provide evidence of participation in clinical audit and demonstrate understanding of the role of audit in improving medical practice. Experience and knowledge of critical appraisal of evidence to improve clinical outcomes are essential. Desirable attributes include knowledge of risk management, understanding of annual job planning/appraisal review processes, and evidence of initiating, progressing, and concluding research projects with publication.
