Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Receptionist to join our welcoming team at Stockwood Medical Centre. Main Duties and Responsibilities
As a Receptionist, you will serve as the central point of contact for patients, undertaking a comprehensive range of reception duties and providing essential support to our practice team. Your responsibilities will include greeting and directing patients, managing appointment systems, booking appointments, processing information, and assisting patients as required.
Principal Duties
Your day-to-day tasks will include booking patients in upon arrival, monitoring self-check-in systems, making various types of appointments including new, follow-up, routine, emergency and home visit appointments. You will handle telephone communications, take accurate messages, process incoming and outgoing mail, and facilitate effective communication with patients and other service users.
Communication Responsibilities
You will initiate and respond to patient communications via email and text messaging services, maintain contact with team members and external agencies, and manage all written, verbal and electronic communications with diplomacy, empathy, and professionalism.
Administrative Tasks
The role involves photocopying, scanning and shredding documents as required, filing and storing records appropriately, and inputting data into patient healthcare records with meticulous accuracy. You will also assist with opening and closing procedures and provide general assistance to GPs and clinical teams.
Facility Management
You will monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards, perform duties relating to premises management according to practice procedures, provide cover during staff absences, and process requests for non-NHS services.

Essential Qualifications
Candidates must be educated to GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths at level C/5 or above. This educational foundation is crucial for the communication and administrative aspects of the role.
Essential Experience Requirements
We require a minimum of one year’s experience in a customer-focused environment working with the public. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral) are essential, along with proven team player capabilities and outstanding IT skills including Word, Excel, and NHS Clinical systems EMIS.

Desirable Qualifications
While not essential, we value candidates who demonstrate ability to use their own initiative, work with a wide variety of tasks, willingness to learn new systems quickly, and previous experience working in healthcare services.
