Job Details
This full-time, permanent position offers competitive compensation ranging from $171,000 to $182,000 annually, with exact compensation to be negotiated based on qualifications and experience. The position involves working 1,500 to 1,680 hours per year. We have two vacancies available, with the start date as soon as possible. The work location is on-site in Victoria, BC (V8R 1J6).
Responsibilities
As a Nurse Practitioner with Island Health, you will be responsible for providing advanced nursing care to patients across the lifespan. Your key responsibilities will include:
Patient Care
You will examine patients and take detailed medical histories, using your advanced assessment skills to diagnose and manage acute and chronic health conditions. You will provide appropriate treatment plans, prescribe medications, and order diagnostic tests as needed to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Healthcare Guidance
A significant part of your role will involve advising patients on various aspects of healthcare, including health promotion, disease prevention, and management of existing health conditions. You will educate patients and their families about healthy lifestyle choices, treatment options, and self-care strategies.
Collaboration
You will consult with physicians and other medical practitioners to evaluate patients’ physical and mental health, ensuring a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. This collaborative environment allows for comprehensive assessment and treatment planning, optimizing patient outcomes.
Clinical Decision Making
Using your advanced clinical knowledge and judgment, you will make critical decisions about patient care, including when to refer patients to specialists or other healthcare services. Your expertise will be essential in managing complex cases and providing appropriate interventions.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must hold current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner by the province/territory of work (British Columbia). This requires successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner education program and registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
Education
A Master’s degree in Nursing with a Nurse Practitioner specialization is required. Candidates with additional certification in a specialized area of practice will be given preference. Clinical Experience
