Qualifications and Experience

Specifically, we require demonstrated expertise in handling various documentation including bills of lading, driver logbooks, inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip), maintenance and repair reports, trans-border documentation, and trip reports.

All applicants must hold a valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license (A/Z license in some provinces) or equivalent. Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of this position is to safely operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials across various routes. This includes planning and executing long-distance trips while adhering to all provincial and federal transportation regulations, hours of service requirements, and company policies.
Vehicle Maintenance and Inspection
Drivers are responsible for performing thorough pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections of their vehicles. This includes checking tires, lights, brakes, cold storage equipment, and all other mechanical systems. Drivers must also perform basic brake adjustments and emergency roadside repairs as needed to ensure safe operation.
Cargo Handling and Security
Responsibilities include proper loading and unloading of goods, tarping cargo to protect it from weather elements, and ensuring the safety and security of all transported materials. Drivers must accurately record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption according to regulatory requirements.
Administrative Duties
Drivers must maintain accurate and complete documentation, including bills of lading, trip reports, maintenance records, and inspection reports. They are also responsible for arranging travel, related itineraries, and making reservations as required for their routes and schedules.
International Operations
For cross-border routes, drivers must obtain all necessary permits and documentation required to transport cargo on international routes. This includes familiarity with customs procedures, border crossing requirements, and compliance with both Canadian and U.S. transportation regulations.
