Certificate of Sponsorship Requirements

Main Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will contribute to the academic, clinical skills, and simulation teaching within the School, drawing on their own area of specialism. Key responsibilities include designing teaching sessions that maximize the integration of theory to clinical practice and contributing to the assessment process for students.
Teaching and Learning Responsibilities
You will be expected to teach a range of core subjects and demonstrate a flexible approach to subject material. The role requires commitment to promoting academic enquiry, helping develop critical thinking in students by supporting safe, effective, and evidence-based practice.
Assessment and Quality Assurance
The post holder will contribute to the assessment process including setting, marking, and moderation of work in accordance with quality assurance procedures. You will ensure all teaching, learning, and assessment activities meet university quality assurance processes and external quality standards.
Student Support and Development
You will act as a Personal Academic Tutor, which includes conducting Individual Learner Progress Reviews (ILPRs). Additionally, you will participate in student recruitment activities including selection events and open days.
Essential Qualifications
Essential Requirements:
– A first degree in Nursing or a relevant health subject
– Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registerable qualification in Nursing
– Current registration with the NMC
Desirable Qualifications
Desirable Qualifications:
– Post Graduate Certificate Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (PGCTHE)
– Relevant Masters qualification or working towards (Essential for Senior Lecturer position)
– PhD or other Doctoral Qualification
Essential Experience
Candidates must have experience teaching nursing students/apprentices on NMC-approved programmes, with evidence of successful student learning outcomes and good pedagogic practice. Relevant professional educational/practice experience and clear evidence of sustained continuous professional development are also required.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
– Demonstrable capacity to make a substantial contribution to the Learning & Teaching agenda within nursing curriculum(s)
– Sound understanding of Apprenticeships, including regulatory and quality assurance processes
– High level of ICT proficiency for teaching and administration purposes
– Awareness of national strategic and policy developments in health and social care
– Excellent written and oral communication skills
– Evidence of effective team-working and interpersonal skills
Senior Lecturer Additional Requirements
For Senior Lecturer positions, excellent awareness of both educational and health policy, development, and practice is essential.
Work Location and Travel Requirements
This post will mainly be based at our satellite campus in Dudley, but may require occasional travel to our Worcester campus. The Black Country & Marches Institute of Technology offers modern facilities and a supportive working environment.
