Role Purpose
This exciting role within our Productivity and Efficiency team supports the Trust’s efficiency challenge. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual with excellent analytical, communication, and finance skills to drive our continuous improvement programmes. The successful candidate will play a key role in transforming our financial operations and supporting the Trust’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Efficiency Reporting
Take responsibility for the accurate and timely reporting of the Trust’s programme of productivity schemes on a monthly basis. Work collaboratively with other finance managers to ensure appropriate processes are in place for accurate internal and external reporting.
Clinical Productivity Development
Work closely with key internal stakeholders to progress the clinical productivity agenda. This involves evaluating and analysing complex issues using advanced analytic tools, benchmarking using Model Hospital, GIRFT, PLICS, and other healthcare data sources.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Work collaboratively with Clinical Boards and Corporate Directorates on the development of efficiency and productivity initiatives. Build strong relationships across finance, operational colleagues, and the Performance and Innovation team.
Benchmarking and Analysis
Actively engage in work around benchmarking and a wide range of productivity indicators, communicating meaningful outputs that drive actionable insights and support decision-making processes.
Essential Qualifications
CCAB or equivalent qualification with current professional registration is essential. Candidates must demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of NHS Financial Management Reporting and stay abreast of current developments and strategic issues within the profession and across the broader NHS health economy.
Essential Experience
Applicants must have experience at Finance Manager Level in an acute hospital within the NHS or at a comparable level within another NHS organisation. Significant experience of health service finance and procurement systems, proven track record of sound financial management, and experience of service quality and process improvements are required.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Postgraduate management qualification or equivalent experience is desirable. Experience of people management would be advantageous, along with project management skills and the ability to manage staffing and HR issues effectively.
Skills and Abilities Required
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to plan and manage conflicting priorities to meet Board and Trust objectives and deadlines. Evidenced strategic, lateral thinking and problem-solving ability are essential, along with advanced persuasion and negotiation skills and the capability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organisation.
