About the Role
This is an exceptional opportunity for an enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Older People’s Mental Health Inpatient Services at The Julian Hospital. The post holder will be responsible for overseeing patients on Sandringham Ward and Hammerton Court, with 7.5 direct clinical care sessions and 2.5 supporting programmed activity sessions. This full-time (10 session) role offers the flexibility to work part-time if preferred.

Professional Development
The Trust provides dedicated SPA time of up to 25% of working hours, paid study leave (on application and approval) in addition to CPD, and potential for extra PA for DCC with requisite pay per PA. Consultants also have the ability to apply for Clinical Excellence Awards and inclusion on the Consultant on-call rota for the higher level with 3%, 5% or 8% requisite pay depending on frequency.

Essential Qualifications
Applicants must have entry on the GMC Register, Approved Clinician Status, Section 12(2) Approval under the Mental Health Act (MHA), and be on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCST.
Essential Experience
Candidates must have 3 years or equivalent medical experience, 6 months experience in a relevant clinical area, and demonstrate evidence of knowledge of diagnosis, treatment and management of complex mental illness.
Clinical Governance
A clear understanding of Clinical Governance and a commitment to open review of practice are essential requirements for this position.
Personal Attributes
Successful candidates will demonstrate effective team working, leadership qualities, flexibility, and either hold a driving licence or be able to travel independently. Research experience is also essential.
Teaching Experience
Applicants must have experience of supervising junior medical staff and possess teaching and presentation skills.
