Substantive Consultant in Neurophysiology with Certificate of Sponsorship to the UK

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The successful Consultant will work autonomously as a key member of our Community Paediatric Service, taking full responsibility for patients under their care and managing a diverse range of presentations. Key responsibilities include conducting independent outpatient clinics, employing advanced clinical decision-making skills to formulate appropriate management plans, and participating in the on-call in-hours rota.

You will provide clinical leadership within the specialty, establish clear communication channels for team-based care delivery, and participate in multidisciplinary forums to ensure patients receive comprehensive, coordinated care. The role involves assessing children on Neurodevelopment pathways and maintaining the highest standards of service quality while understanding personal professional limits and seeking support when required.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

Essential Qualifications: MBBS or equivalent medical qualification, full GMC Registration with Licence to Practise, and inclusion on the Specialist Register or within six months of obtaining Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT). Community Paediatric experience is absolutely essential for this role.

Clinical Skills and Experience: Demonstrated clinical judgment in decision-making and risk management, relevant specialty clinical knowledge with capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge, practical skills aptitude, and the ability to prioritize clinical needs effectively while knowing when to seek appropriate help.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

While not essential, interest and experience in looked after children, adoptions, and fostering would be highly advantageous. Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development and lifelong learning is expected, along with experience in teaching and education within the medical field.
