Job Overview
We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist for an innovative post in Cumbria region, offering the flexibility to develop special interests in areas such as liaison or crisis psychiatry. This is a full-time position (10PA) providing medical input into community services covering Carlisle and Workington.

Salary and Benefits
The salary range is £109,725 to £145,478 per year (pro rata for part-time positions). In addition to competitive pay, we offer:

Key Responsibilities
The post-holder will be expected to:
- Participate in the engagement, assessment, diagnosis and formulation of patients referred to the Community Treatment Team (CTT)
- Support the medical workforce on the west CTT
- Be committed to delivering excellence in clinical care
- Work effectively with multidisciplinary community teams and in-patient teams
- Promote patient safety and wellbeing
- Respect patient rights and dignity
- Consider individual and cultural patient needs
- Work with families and carers in the best interest of the patient
Qualifications and Training
Essential:
- MBBS (or equivalent)
>Included on GMC Specialist Register (General Psychiatry) or eligible for inclusion
>Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983
>Approved Clinician Status
Desirable:

>MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
>Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field
>Training in educational supervision
>Training in appraisal
Knowledge Requirements
Essential:

>Up-to-date knowledge in the field of Psychiatry
>Awareness of current issues and controversies in service provision, mental health policy and legislation
Desirable:

>An area of special interest relevant to the post as demonstrated by publications or presentations to learned societies
Experience Requirements
Essential:

>Experience of multidisciplinary team working
>Wide clinical experience in general adult psychiatry in different clinical settings
>Experience of Clinical Audit
Desirable:

>Experience in multiagency work with service users, carers and voluntary agencies
>Experience in service management or development
Skills Required
Essential:

>High level of clinical skills
>Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
>Proven competence in diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders in Adult Psychiatry
>Excellent communication skills
