About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Consultant Haematologist to contribute to our high-quality Haematology and Blood Transfusion services at St Mary’s Hospital. The successful candidate will play a key role in our comprehensive clinical haematology, haemato-oncology, and blood transfusion service, working towards UKAS accreditation.
Main Responsibilities
Your duties will include providing comprehensive clinical haematology care for inpatients, outpatients, and day cases; offering expert advice on haematology results and transfusion; reviewing blood films; and participating in clinical governance. You will also share in a 1 in 4 on-call rota with Southampton colleagues and contribute to teaching, training, research, and service development.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential qualifications include full registration and licence to practise with the GMC and being on the Specialist Register in Haematology, or eligibility for registration within six months of interview. UK-trained applicants must hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of awarding CCT by the interview date.

Full GMC registration and specialist registration in Haematology (or eligibility within six months). UK-trained applicants must have a CCT or be within six months of award. Non-UK trained applicants must show evidence of equivalence to UK CCT.
Desirable Qualifications
While not essential, additional qualifications such as MRCPCH or evidence of equivalent qualification are considered valuable. Evidence of a special interest that complements other consultants in the department is also desirable.
Certificate of Sponsorship
