About Our Trust
We are an organization that is continuously improving and driven by our determination to deliver care we’re proud of and ensure our patients are happy with our services. We’ve made significant progress and are no longer in special measures. Our recent achievements include opening two new theatres at our Elective Surgical Hub in King George Hospital and being shortlisted for Trust of the Year at the Health Service Journal Awards.
We operate from two main sites: King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. Our busy emergency departments saw over 330,000 visitors last year, and we’re actively campaigning to secure £35 million to transform the A&E at Queen’s Hospital and eliminate corridor care.
Our patients benefit from our Women’s Health Hub in Ilford, an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch, and Community Diagnostic Centres at Barking Community Hospital and St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs operate 12 hours daily, 7 days a week, providing an additional 94,000 scans annually.
Our diverse workforce of 8,000 staff represents 146 different countries, with many living in the three London boroughs we serve. We proudly offer flexible working arrangements and have more than 400 staff enrolled in our Ofsted-accredited apprenticeship programmes. We are a London Living Wage employer and are excited about introducing an electronic patient record system that will transform our operations.
Team Structure and Support
The successful candidate will join a team of eight consultants supported by four registrars from the North East London rotation and five clinical fellows, serving a population of 750,000. We understand that relocation can be challenging, which is why we provide comprehensive support through our Medical Staffing team.
We recognize that personal circumstances may vary, and any consultant unable to work full-time for personal reasons will be eligible for consideration. If appointed, job content modifications will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.
