Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care to our elderly patient population. Your duties will include:
- Providing comprehensive inpatient medical services for elderly patients
- Taking responsibility for the diagnosis and treatment of elderly patients
- Undertaking a weekly outpatient clinic (with potential for a rapid access clinic)
- Participating in a 1:11 Consultant general medical on-call rota (weekday advice/call-in 22:00-08:00)
- Providing professional supervision and management of junior medical staff
Qualifications and Experience
Essential Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree
- Membership with the relevant Royal College for Physicians
- GMC registration and license to practice
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Geriatrics and general medicine via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview), CESR, or European Community rights
Essential Experience
Candidates should have:
- Completed a recognised training programme in General Internal Medicine
- Knowledge of current trends in the specialty
- Strong IT skills
- Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, post-graduates and junior medical staff
- Evidence of participation in clinical audit relevant to specialty
>Demonstrated a high level of clinical experience and competence in GIM
Desirable Qualifications
While not essential, candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
- Higher degree such as MD, PhD, or Masters in other subjects (Education leadership)
- Published audits
