Job Summary
We are looking to appoint a substantive Consultant in Dermatology to join our dynamic team. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Dermatologist to contribute to our rapidly expanding multidisciplinary dermatology care services in North Wales. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing our dermatological services while working in collaboration with other consultant colleagues and the wider health community.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Services
To provide comprehensive dermatology outpatient services to patients in collaboration with nursing and medical colleagues. This includes delivering high-quality dermatological inpatient care and specialist advice for inpatients at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.
Quality and Governance
To share responsibility for professional standards and quality control within the dermatology services, ensuring compliance with standards that satisfy clinical governance requirements. The successful candidate will develop dermatological services with other consultant colleagues in recognition of regional and national guidelines where appropriate.
Service Development
To participate in service development and business planning in collaboration with other consultant colleagues and the wider health community. This includes sharing in providing emergency cover for colleagues’ study/annual leave or illness, ensuring continuity of service delivery.
Education and Training
To provide training opportunities for undergraduates and postgraduates in dermatology, contributing to the development of future medical professionals. The role includes developing and implementing clinical audit programmes within the Dermatology Departments and in collaboration with other clinical groups.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Essential Qualifications
• GMC Specialist Registration or within 6 months of obtaining CCST in Dermatology from date of interview
• Broad Based general experience in dermatology
• Primary medical degree
• Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice
• CCT/CCST in Dermatology and inclusion on the GMC specialist register for Dermatology
Essential Experience and Skills
• Evidence of an understanding of the strategic and operational issues underpinning Clinical Governance and their application in daily practice
• Ability to apply knowledge effectively in clinical settings
• Ability to write relevant and legible clinical notes
• Safe and effective oral communication skills
• Willingness to involve patients in the management of their conditions
• Ability to handle difficult situations and conversations with patients and relatives with tact and sensitivity
• Basic IT skills
