Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Brewery Supervisor to join our production team. This is a permanent, full-time position offering an annual salary of $65,000 for 30-40 hours per week, with overtime available. The role is based at our facility located at 215 Donald Rd, Williams Lake, BC V2G 4K4 and is expected to start as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities
The Brewery Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our brewing production processes. Your primary duties will include minimizing hazards at all stages of the food production process, training staff in job duties, safety procedures, and company policies. You will also be responsible for recommending personnel actions such as hiring and promotions, preparing production reports, and recommending measures to improve productivity and product quality.
Operational Supervision
In this role, you will supervise, coordinate, and schedule activities of workers, establishing methods to meet work schedules and coordinating work activities with other work units. You will be expected to review work processes and implement best practices to maintain our high standards of brewing excellence. Your leadership will ensure production targets are met while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Quality Assurance
Maintaining the highest quality standards is crucial in our brewing operations. You will work closely with our quality assurance team to ensure all products meet our exacting specifications. This includes monitoring production processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing corrective actions when necessary. Your experience in quality assurance or control will be essential in this aspect of the role.
Staff Management
As a supervisor, you will be responsible for managing 1-2 team members, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure they perform their duties effectively. You will conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and professional development.
Inventory Management
You will be responsible for requisitioning or ordering materials, equipment, and supplies needed for production operations. This requires careful planning to ensure adequate inventory levels without excessive waste. You will maintain accurate records of inventory usage and costs, contributing to our operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
To be successful in this position, you must possess a combination of education, certification, and experience that demonstrates your capability to manage brewery operations effectively. Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality assurance or control, along with specific certifications that are essential for food and beverage production.
Educational Background
While formal education requirements may vary, candidates with a background in food science, brewing technology, or a related field will have a distinct advantage. However, we value practical experience and hands-on skills, and are open to candidates who have developed their expertise through vocational training and on-the-job experience.
Essential Certifications
Candidates must hold the following certifications: Forklift Operator Certification, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) Certification, and Smart Serve. These certifications demonstrate your commitment to safety, quality standards, and responsible alcohol service.
Experience Requirements
A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in quality assurance or control within a food or beverage production environment is required. Experience in a brewery, winery, or similar production facility is highly desirable. Candidates with supervisory or team leadership experience will be given preference.
