Position Details
This is a full-time permanent consultant position offering 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) based at Dorset County Hospital in the beautiful county of Dorset. The successful candidate will join our team of 4 Consultant Haematologists and participate in the Clinical Haematology on-call rota on a 1:5 basis. As we continue to grow our department, we are moving toward a model of sub-specialisation, making this an ideal opportunity for those with expertise in myeloma treatment and research.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
The post holder will possess comprehensive haematological knowledge and be capable of managing all haematological conditions while having the opportunity to develop sub-specialty expertise. You will work across both clinical and laboratory haematology services, providing care in outpatient and inpatient settings. The role involves assuming full clinical responsibility for patients under your care and ensuring continuous consultant supervision within the haematology laboratory.
Clinical Trials and Research

You must also be available in the laboratory during emergencies, particularly in cases of major accidents and catastrophes.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
Candidates must possess full GMC Registration with Licence to Practice and an appropriate higher medical qualification. Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (with proposed CCT date within 6 months of interview), CESR, or European Community Rights is essential. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate evidence of ability to manage the demands of being a DGH-based consultant haematologist and have experience working within the NHS or equivalent healthcare system.
Essential Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will provide evidence of clinical skills required to fulfill both specialty and sub-specialty elements of the role as detailed in the job description. Management experience and involvement in service change initiatives are essential, along with teaching experience appropriate to the consultant level.
