Job Summary
Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a qualified Maintenance Craftsperson (Mechanical/Plumbing) to join our Estates Services team. This permanent, full-time position offers a competitive salary of £31,049 to £37,796 per annum and includes the opportunity to work across multiple NHS sites in the region. Location and Working Environment
The role is based at St Francis Building in Haywards Heath, with work required across various sites managed by the Trust throughout the region. Candidates will spend approximately 37.5 hours per week working across these locations, with a company van provided for use during Trust business. Key Responsibilities
As a Maintenance Craftsperson Mechanical, you will be required to undertake a wide range of tasks including reactive and planned maintenance, installation work, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. You will maintain high technical standards of workmanship across various Trust premises, troubleshoot mechanical and plumbing issues, and work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential: You must be qualified to a relevant City and Guilds or equivalent NVQ Level 3 in a relevant trade. This qualification demonstrates your technical expertise and forms the foundation of your professional capabilities in mechanical maintenance work.
Knowledge and Experience
Essential: You must have proven experience in carrying out maintenance work within NHS Multi-Site environments. This experience should demonstrate your ability to work effectively in healthcare settings where safety and operational efficiency are paramount.
Essential: You should possess proven post City and Guilds or NVQ qualification, or substantial General Building, Mechanical Plumbing experience. This practical experience ensures you can handle the diverse challenges that arise in maintenance roles.
Essential: Knowledge of the safe use of tools and equipment is required. This includes understanding proper handling, maintenance, and safety protocols for all equipment used in mechanical and plumbing maintenance work.
Desirable Qualifications
While not essential, holding a CSCS card would be advantageous. This certification demonstrates your commitment to health and safety standards in construction and maintenance environments.
Working Pattern and Additional Benefits
This is a full-time permanent position working 37.5 hours per week. Following a period of induction, you will be required to participate in an on-call rota outside normal working hours, for which additional payments will be made. This offers opportunities for increased earnings while providing critical support to our healthcare facilities.
