Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Bookkeeper to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. This role is critical to maintaining the financial health of our organization and requires a candidate with strong accounting skills and attention to detail. Key Responsibilities
As a Bookkeeper with our team, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth operation of all accounting functions. Your primary duties will include managing general ledgers and financial statements, preparing various financial and accounting reports, and handling day-to-day bookkeeping tasks.
Financial Management
You will be responsible for maintaining general ledgers and financial statements, preparing other statistical, financial and accounting reports, and performing basic bookkeeping tasks. This includes preparing journal entries and assisting in preparing comprehensive financial reports that guide business decision-making.
Accounts Payable and Receivable
A significant portion of your role will involve managing accounts payable and accounts receivable. You will send invoices to clients, receive payments from customers, and ensure timely processing of all financial transactions. This requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate financial records.
Client Communication
Effective communication with clients is essential in this role. You will provide clients with information regarding their accounts, payments, and other financial matters. This requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to explain financial information clearly and professionally to clients with varying levels of financial knowledge.
Financial Reporting
You will prepare financial statements and reports on a regular basis, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. These reports are critical for management decision-making and must be produced according to established accounting principles and company standards.
Transaction Processing
The position involves processing various financial transactions, including authorizing payments by cheque and managing cash flow. You will also prepare bank reconciliations to ensure that all transactions are accurately recorded and that our financial records match bank statements.
Estimates and Bids
As part of your responsibilities, you will create and submit estimate reports, quote sheets, and bid forms. This requires attention to detail and the ability to prepare accurate financial documents that support business operations and client projects.
Problem Resolution
You will be responsible for detecting and troubleshooting irregularities and malfunctions in financial systems and reports. This requires analytical thinking and the ability to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions promptly.
Compliance and Audit
The role includes preparing reports and audit findings as required. You will work to ensure that all financial practices comply with relevant regulations and standards, supporting internal and external audit processes as needed.
Required Skills and Experience
Candidates for this position should have experience with MS Excel, MS Word, MS Office, and spreadsheet applications. Proficiency in Sage Accounting Software is required, along with general accounting knowledge and experience using scanners for document management. Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy are essential for success in this role.
