Job Details
We are seeking motivated kitchen helpers to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. The position offers competitive compensation at $17.85 per hour, with work hours ranging from 30 to 40 hours per week. The position is located on-site at our Kelowna restaurant. Comprehensive Responsibilities
As a kitchen helper at Basil Leaf Asian Fusion, you will play a crucial role in our kitchen operations. Your responsibilities will include bringing clean dishes, flatware, and other items to serving areas and setting tables. You will be responsible for clearing and cleaning tables, trays, and chairs to maintain a clean dining environment. Operating dishwashers to wash dishes, glassware, and flatware will be a regular part of your duties, ensuring all kitchenware is sanitized and ready for use.
Daily Kitchen Operations
You will place dishes in designated storage areas and replenish condiments and other supplies at tables and serving areas. Sanitizing and washing dishes and other items by hand will be required when necessary. Keeping records of the quantities of food used will help us maintain inventory control and waste reduction. You will also package take-out food and portion and wrap foods according to our quality standards and customer requirements.
Food Preparation
Preparing, heating, and finishing simple food items will be part of your responsibilities, allowing you to develop basic culinary skills. You will stock refrigerators and salad bars with fresh ingredients and products. Using manual and electrical appliances to clean, peel, slice, and trim foodstuffs will help prepare ingredients for our chefs. Washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables and fruit will ensure we have fresh produce ready for preparation.
Kitchen Maintenance
Maintaining a clean and sanitized kitchen environment is essential. You will clean and sanitize kitchen work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances, and equipment. Properly handling and storing cleaning products will ensure workplace safety. Receiving, unpacking, and storing supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other storage areas will keep our kitchen organized and efficient. Removing kitchen garbage and trash regularly will help maintain hygiene standards.
Requirements
While previous kitchen experience is beneficial, we welcome applicants who are eager to learn and develop their culinary skills. Basic food safety knowledge is preferred, and we provide comprehensive training on all kitchen procedures and standards. Physical stamina is important as this role involves standing for extended periods and performing various physical tasks.
