About the Position
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant to join our Community Therapy Team at Powys Teaching Health Board. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to patient-centered rehabilitation services while working closely with occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals in a supportive environment.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering therapy interventions, supporting patients with personal care tasks, cognition, and mobility. You’ll carry out rehabilitation plans as delegated by senior team members and help maintain accurate documentation while communicating effectively with service users and their families.
Key Responsibilities
As a Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant, your primary responsibilities will include delivering rehabilitation through various therapy interventions, supporting patients with personal care tasks, and assisting with mobility and cognitive exercises. You’ll be expected to carry out rehabilitation plans as directed by occupational therapists and physiotherapists.
Maintaining accurate documentation and communicating effectively with service users, families, and the therapy team is essential to this role. You’ll need to be flexible in supporting the team during peak service times and participate in the 7-day service rota, including weekends, delivering rehabilitation between 8am and 8pm.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications and Knowledge
Applicants must have a good standard of education to GCSE level or equivalent, including Maths and English. A technical qualification such as NVQ Level III or equivalent is also required. Previous experience of working in a care or leisure setting is essential, along with experience of working in a busy and varied workplace that involves dealing with the public.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
While not essential, an understanding of manual handling principles and a broad range of life experiences would be advantageous. The ability to speak or learn Welsh to a satisfactory level is also desirable, though English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Essential Skills and Values
We’re looking for candidates who demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills, with a willingness to learn and an awareness of their own limitations. You should be able to take responsibility within agreed protocols, remain assertive and calm under pressure, and effectively prioritise and organise your time.
Organisational and time management skills are essential, along with the ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. A commitment to personal development and effective written and oral communication skills are also required.
Physical Requirements
This role requires a flexible approach to the needs of the service and the ability to travel across the Trust to fulfil the requirements of the post. You must be able to cope with the physical demands of the role, including using wheelchairs and hoists, and performing therapeutic moving and handling of patients.

Location and Working Pattern
The position is based at Llandrindod Wells Hospital, Temple Street, Llandrindod Wells, Powys, LD1 5HF. This is a permanent, part-time role requiring flexibility to work across the 7-day service rota, including weekends, between 8am and 8pm.
Being a community post, the successful candidate will need the ability to travel between sites in a timely manner. The location offers the opportunity to live and work in the beautiful rural area of Powys, known for its stunning landscapes and quality of life.
