Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team in a Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist post working within our paediatric and neonates service! We are looking for a passionate and highly motivated individual to fill this vacancy. As an autonomous practitioner, you will be responsible for providing specialist, evidence-based assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of paediatric patients across our SLT service including NICU.
About the Role
As a Band 7 Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you will work alongside another Band 7 SLT to improve and develop our paediatrics and neonates service. We pride ourselves on being a friendly and innovative team where service development is driven at every level. This includes the opportunity to further develop our paediatric video fluoroscopy service.
Key Responsibilities
The main duties of this role include providing autonomous specialist assessment, treatment, and advice to inpatients for NICU, SCBU infants, and ward-based inpatients who present with feeding/swallowing difficulties. You will work alongside other members of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) to provide highly specialist guidance, advice, and education on matters relating to your specialist area.
Leadership Opportunities
This position offers significant leadership opportunities, including providing leadership for your team in conjunction with the Clinical Lead in planning, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating the Speech and Language Therapy service. You will also take a lead role in teaching, supervising, and appraising peers, Band 6, Band 5, Student Speech and Language Therapists, and Speech and Language Therapy Assistants.
Person Specification – Essential Qualifications
Applicants must hold a BSc/MSc in Speech and Language Therapy. This is a mandatory requirement for the role. The successful candidate will need to provide evidence of their qualifications during the application process and interview stage.
Essential Experience
You must have sound knowledge of relevant areas of Dysphagia and early feeding development and/or communication difficulties. Additionally, experience in Videofluoroscopy is essential for this position. These skills are critical for delivering high-quality care to our paediatric patients.
Desirable Qualifications
While not essential, leadership training is considered desirable for this role. We also value candidates who demonstrate a willingness to continue postgraduate training. This shows commitment to professional development and staying current with best practices in speech and language therapy.

What We Offer
We offer a competitive salary of £53,751 to £60,651 per annum inclusive. This is a permanent, full-time position with part-time, job sharing, and flexible working options available. Applicants can be considered for the option of a development post from Band 6 to 7.
