The Role

The Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU) on Ward 7D is a predominantly nurse-led unit that provides alternative pathways for children and young people requiring acute specialist paediatric involvement, thus avoiding unnecessary hospital admissions. PAU patients can be referred from general practitioners, emergency departments, or clinical nurse specialists. The successful candidate will occasionally be expected to support nursing care delivery on the Paediatric Ambulatory and Short Stay Unit, also located on Ward 7.

Key Responsibilities

The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse will provide clinical leadership to a designated nursing team, ensuring the delivery of the highest standard of individualized family-centered care to children and their families in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team. This role requires the ability to juggle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining excellent standards of care.

The successful candidate will need excellent written and verbal communication skills, with effective interpersonal abilities including deliberation on complex matters. They must demonstrate proven ability to deal with difficult situations and possess excellent organisational skills. Additional essential skills include cannulation and venepuncture skills, EPALS/APLS certification, and triage experience.

Remuneration and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary ranging from £46,419 to £55,046 per annum, inclusive of allowances.
