Key Responsibilities
The Estates Officer will support the Estates Manager in ensuring the Trust’s electrical/mechanical equipment is maintained to statutory and mandatory standards. This involves maintaining and refining planned preventative maintenance, repair, and replacement programmes, as well as managing minor projects work.
Successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring that current legislation, regulations, and safe systems of work are adhered to. The role includes participating in the Estates emergency on-call rota, which may require out of hours working.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must hold a Degree or HND (or equivalent) in Engineering, along with equivalent significant demonstrable experience and knowledge. Experience of a wide range of Estates operation and compliance systems, processes, and proven knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and statutory obligations relating to Estates operations and compliance are also essential.
Desirable Attributes
While not mandatory, experience of managing day to day professional and technical Estates and Facilities services within a mental health environment would be advantageous. Additionally, corporate/full member status with a relevant engineering body/institution, authorization as a person for Low Voltage electrical systems, lifts, medical gases, hot and cold water systems (legionella), and/or management of asbestos in buildings, along with an IOSH certificate for Managing Safety would strengthen an application.
