Position Overview
We are seeking a Consultant Cellular Pathologist for a 12-month fixed-term position at The Royal United Hospital Bath NHS Foundation Trust. Although this is a full-time post, applications from candidates wishing to work less than full-time will be considered. The successful candidate will join our cohesive and highly motivated team in the Department of Cellular Pathology.
Main Duties
As a Consultant Cellular Pathologist, you will be responsible for diagnostic histopathology and cytopathology work, with a special interest in reporting skin, head and neck, and/or breast pathology. You will support relevant cancer MDTs based on your declared specialist interests and participate in clinical governance, including audit, and undertake administrative duties as required.

Candidate Requirements
Essential Qualifications
Applicants must hold Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) or be eligible for registration within six months of interview. You must also hold FRCPath or equivalent qualifications in pathology.
Essential Experience
You must have training and expertise in diagnostic histopathology and cytopathology work sufficient to practice as an independent consultant. A specialist interest in skin, Head & Neck and/or breast pathology, or a willingness to develop such an interest, is essential. Previous experience of audit and awareness of the requirements of clinical governance is also required.
Desirable Qualifications
NHS experience is highly desirable, as is having other relevant higher qualifications beyond the essential FRCPath or equivalent. Completion of a general management course is also considered advantageous for this position.
Management Experience
While not essential, candidates with previous management experience or who have completed a general management course will be looked upon favorably. The role includes administrative duties and participation in clinical governance, making management experience valuable.
