Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant Paediatric Haematologist to join our prestigious team. This is an excellent opportunity for international medical professionals looking to advance their careers in one of the world’s leading children’s hospitals. The hospital is offering a certificate of sponsorship for eligible candidates, making it an attractive option for those seeking to relocate to the UK.

About GOSH and the Department

Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) is renowned globally for its expertise in treating children with complex and rare conditions. Our Haematology department is the largest centre for paediatric haematological malignancies in Europe, handling approximately 90 new diagnoses annually. As the joint Principal Treatment Centre for North London with University College London Hospitals (UCLH), we provide comprehensive care to children across North and South London, particularly focusing on patients under one year of age.

The department actively participates in national and international collaborative clinical trials and maintains close working relationships with our bone marrow transplant (BMT) team. Our multidisciplinary approach ensures that patients receive the highest standard of care from experts across various specialties.

Job Responsibilities

As a Consultant Paediatric Haematologist, you will provide clinical services to infants and children with malignant haematological conditions, including leukaemia, myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), and those with marrow failure. You will share responsibilities with 5.5 other consultants, managing both outpatient and ward duties.

Your role will include participating in an attending consultant model of care, leading ward rounds, and supervising day care and laboratory reporting. Each consultant is responsible for maintaining competence in electronic prescribing and all hands-on aspects of daily clinical work. The significant workload during attending weeks is balanced with increased time off during non-attending weeks.
