About the Position
We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly team at Wessex Hospital in Chandler’s Ford, Southampton. This is a permanent, full-time position offering a competitive salary of £29,500 per annum, working 37.5 hours per week. Wessex Hospital
Wessex Hospital is a stunning 46-bedded private hospital located in West Hampshire, with specialisms in Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, Urology, Women’s Health, and Spinal surgery. The hospital benefits from having onsite Radiology, Pathology, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, and Hydrotherapy services, providing patients with a complete package of care. The facility includes 16 consulting rooms with specialty outpatient rooms, 46 private patient bedrooms with en-suite facilities, a 24-hour resident doctor on site (RMO), four operating theatres, and one endoscopy suite.
Key Responsibilities
As a Pharmacy Technician at Nuffield Health Wessex Hospital, you will work closely with our Pharmacy Manager to deliver a comprehensive pharmacy service. Your responsibilities will include providing in-house pharmacy services, procurement, distribution, stock taking, and replenishment of pharmacy items to wards and departments. You will also be involved in evaluation, final accuracy checks, and dispensing of medications. Ensuring patient experience and safety remains at the heart of everything you do is paramount to this role.
Person Specification
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, experienced, and motivated to join our friendly team. To succeed as a Pharmacy Technician, you must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Society and hold NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy service or an equivalent qualification. You should have experience working either within a hospital or community pharmacy setting, along with strong IT skills, good literacy, numeracy, and communication abilities.
Essential Qualifications
The essential qualifications for this position include NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy service or an equivalent qualification, which demonstrates your technical knowledge and competence in pharmacy practice. You must also be currently registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Society, which is the regulatory body for pharmacy professionals in the UK. This registration ensures that you meet the professional standards required for safe and effective practice.
Essential Experience
Essential experience for this role includes practical experience working either within a hospital or community pharmacy setting. This hands-on experience is crucial for understanding the day-to-day operations of a pharmacy environment, including medication dispensing, stock management, and patient interaction. Your experience should demonstrate your ability to work as part of a team and deliver a high-quality pharmacy service where patient experience and safety are at the heart of everything you do.
Skills and Abilities
