Job Overview
Gtd Healthcare is one of the largest NHS commissioned Primary and Urgent Care providers in North West England. We are seeking dedicated and proactive General Practitioners to work in our Out of Hours and Urgent Care services. Position Details
We offer both full-time and part-time positions, with weekly hours ranging from 10 to 37.5 hours. Various shifts are available Monday to Sunday, predominantly evenings, overnights, and weekends. Our services operate 24/7, providing vital patient care through Treatment Centres, Home Visiting, Telephone Triage, and OOH GMCAS.
Compensation Package
The annual salary ranges from £95,025 to £105,788, with additional rate enhancements for evening, weekend, and overnight working. This competitive package reflects the importance of these roles in our healthcare system and ensures fair compensation for the demanding nature of out-of-hours work.

Key Responsibilities
As a Salaried GP in our Out of Hours and Urgent Care services, you will provide timely clinical care to patients in the form of advice or face-to-face consultation. This may occur at our Denton Clinical Hub, Preston and Chorley Treatment Centres, satellite bases, treatment centres, or during home visits.
Clinical Duties
Your responsibilities will include ensuring appropriate patient referrals to further management services, proactively communicating with the Lead Senior Clinical Practitioner and Senior Care Co-ordinators, working within the prescribing formulary, and providing clinical advice to both internal and external staff as required.
Administrative Requirements
You will represent gtd healthcare professionally when interacting with the general public and other professionals, contribute to the training and development of clinical and non-clinical staff, and support locally developed urgent care pathways and community alternatives to admission.
Qualification Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must be on the GMC GP register with a current Licence to Practice and without any current restrictions or undertakings relevant to unscheduled care work. You should also possess a Vocational Training certificate or certificate of equivalence.
Essential Qualifications
In addition to GMC registration, essential qualifications include inclusion on NHS England’s Medical Performers list, absence of restrictions relevant to OOH work, and full membership of a medical indemnity organisation with required level of cover for GP OOH/urgent care sessions.
Desired Experience
While not mandatory, desirable qualifications include experience as a GP Principal or Salaried GP in areas covered by gtd healthcare’s contracted regions or adjacent areas, with demonstrable evidence of in-hours commitments in regular practices.
Experience Requirements
You must have an up-to-date understanding of modern primary care and its delivery in an OOH/urgent care setting, along with experience working in primary care, OOH, or Urgent Care environments. The ability to manage common medical, surgical, and psychiatric emergencies is essential.
Clinical Skills
Essential experience includes the ability to make appropriate referrals for further management and understanding of local services, pathways, and OOH/Urgent Care services. You should be comfortable working independently within OOH/treatment centres settings.
Professional Attributes
Desirable experience includes understanding of National Quality Requirements in Out of Hours and experience in GP Training or multi-professional education, which would be valuable in contributing to the development of our clinical teams.
Personal Attributes
We seek candidates who are computer literate with the ability to use clinical systems and online decision support tools. You should be skilled and experienced in telephone consultation with a good telephone manner and clear diction.
Interpersonal Skills
Essential attributes include the ability to demonstrate holistic patient care, flexibility to adapt to change, good problem-solving skills, and the capacity to work within a team while taking instruction as required. You should be able to quickly establish rapport and credibility with team members.
Professional Conduct
You must be able to represent the organisation professionally with internal and external stakeholders, use your own initiative, work autonomously, and be self-motivated. Empathy, caring approach, professional appearance, and excellent communication skills are essential, especially in difficult situations.
Additional Information
