The position is based at our Brampton facility located at L6Y 1M5 in Ontario, Canada. This on-site position requires regular presence at our Brampton location, which serves as the hub for our trucking operations in the Greater Toronto Area. Compensation Package
We offer a competitive hourly wage of $36.10, which translates to a substantial weekly income given the 50 to 60 hour work week. Employment Terms
This is a permanent, full-time position with no temporary or contractual limitations. Licensing Requirements
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess an AZ class license, which is the commercial driver’s license required to operate tractor-trailers in Ontario. This licensing indicates that candidates have undergone the necessary training and have demonstrated the skills required to safely operate large commercial vehicles on Canadian roads and highways.
Required Experience
Applicants should have experience in preparing and maintaining accident or incident reports, accurately completing driver logbooks, conducting inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip), and submitting detailed trip reports. Additionally, experience operating GPS systems and other navigation equipment is essential for this position, as it ensures efficient route planning and delivery of cargo.
Core Responsibilities
Our truck drivers are responsible for arranging travel and related itineraries, making reservations as needed, and loading and unloading goods with care and efficiency. Drivers must obtain all necessary special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and requirements.
Vehicle Maintenance and Inspection
A key responsibility of this position is overseeing the condition of the vehicle and conducting thorough inspections of tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment. Drivers must perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, overseeing all aspects of vehicle operation to ensure safety and compliance with transportation regulations.
Emergency and Preventative Maintenance
Our drivers are expected to perform emergency roadside repairs when necessary and conduct preventative maintenance to keep vehicles in optimal condition. This includes identifying potential issues before they become serious problems, thereby ensuring the safe operation of the vehicle and preventing costly downtime.
Communication and Documentation
Effective communication is crucial in this role. Drivers must receive and relay information to central dispatch in a timely manner and accurately record all cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption. This documentation is essential for operational efficiency, compliance, and billing purposes.
Cargo Handling and Safety
Our truck drivers are responsible for the proper tarping of cargo to ensure its protection during transit and for maintaining the safety and security of all cargo throughout the journey. Additionally, drivers must be trained and qualified to transport and handle dangerous goods in accordance with all applicable regulations and safety protocols.
Financial Transactions
Drivers may be required to pay and receive payments for goods, handling cash transactions and financial documentation with accuracy and integrity. This requires attention to detail and the ability to maintain proper records of all financial transactions related to cargo transportation.
