Job Overview
Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Carer Co-production and Engagement Facilitator to join their team. This is a unique opportunity for individuals with lived experience of caring for loved ones accessing adult mental health services. The role focuses on improving carer involvement and co-production in eating disorders care and perinatal mental health services across the West Midlands.
About the Role
As a Senior Carer Co-production and Engagement Facilitator, you will share your personal experiences and insights from your journey as a carer to support other carers. You will build relationships through mutual understanding and experiences, helping to amplify the voices of those who access services and their carers. This is a part-time, permanent position with flexible working options, including the possibility of home or remote working.
Key Responsibilities
Your role will involve promoting, encouraging, and supporting lived experience involvement to influence service delivery. You will attend collaborative and in-patient steering groups, provide professional supervision to colleagues in lived experience roles, and facilitate high-quality involvement opportunities and co-production at all levels.
Detailed Responsibilities
You will be responsible for developing communications and resources to support the lived experience network, developing diverse opportunities for service review and evaluation, and supporting network members with completing claim forms for remuneration. Additionally, you will co-develop and co-facilitate training opportunities for various audiences and identify themes from feedback that may require service improvements.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
Lived experience of providing care and support to a loved one accessing secondary care adult mental health services in a personal/unpaid capacity is essential. This experience forms the foundation of your ability to connect with and understand the challenges faced by carers.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience of working or volunteering within NHS and/or third sector mental health organisations is desirable. Additionally, having completed Health Education England accredited Peer Support Worker Training or demonstrating equivalent knowledge of peer working would be advantageous.
Essential Experience
You must have experience of managing and setting up events, activities, and training. The ability to demonstrate examples of co-produced working is essential, as is evidence of building effective interpersonal relationships with diverse individuals. Experience of planning activities in a pressured environment and working with people from different backgrounds and cultures is also required.
Desirable Experience
Experience of supporting individuals with perinatal mental health difficulties or eating disorders is desirable. Having used carer lived experience in service development projects and demonstrating examples of co-produced working would strengthen your application.
