Position Details
The Consultant Neurodevelopmental Paediatrician will join the Community Paediatric Service as a Consultant member, working autonomously while taking responsibility for patients under their care. This permanent, full-time position offers a competitive salary range of £109,725 to £145,478 per year pro rata, based on Hospital Medical and Dental Staff Consultant grade.
Key Responsibilities
The post holder will undertake independent outpatient clinics, employing advanced clinical decision-making skills to formulate appropriate management plans. The role includes covering the on-call in-hours rota and participating in multidisciplinary forums to ensure patients receive comprehensive, appropriate care. The successful candidate will provide leadership within the specialty and deliver team-based care through established communication channels.
Service Aims
The service aims to ensure that the health needs of children within Central Cheshire are met so every child attains their full potential. Key objectives include early identification of children with special needs to minimize problem effects through relevant services and support, while providing timely and comprehensive care delivery.
Clinical Duties
The Consultant will be involved with assessing children on Neurodevelopment pathways, managing a full range of presentations within the Service. Although working autonomously, the post holder must understand their own limits and seek help when required. The role demands clinical expertise in making decisions and managing risk effectively.
Essential Qualifications
Candidates must possess MBBS or equivalent medical qualification with full GMC Registration and a Licence to Practise. Applicants must be on the Specialist Register or within six months of obtaining their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT). Community Paediatric experience is essential for this role.
Essential Experience and Skills
The ideal candidate will demonstrate clinical judgment experience in making decisions and managing risk, knowing when to seek help and prioritizing clinical need. Relevant specialty clinical knowledge and capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge are required, along with practical skills aptitude. Desirable Qualifications
