Main Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Service Delivery
The post holder will undertake independent outpatient clinics, employing advanced clinical decision-making skills to formulate appropriate management plans for patients under their care. You will work autonomously while understanding your professional limits and seeking help when required. The role involves comprehensive assessment of children on Neurodevelopment pathways and covering the on-call in hours rota.
Service Aims and Objectives
The Community Paediatric Service aims to ensure that the health needs of children within Central Cheshire are fully met, enabling every child to attain their maximum potential. We focus on early identification of children with special needs to provide relevant services and support that minimize the impact of developmental challenges. The service is committed to providing timely and comprehensive care to all patients.
Leadership and Team Approach
The successful candidate will provide leadership and direction within the specialty, establishing explicit lines of communication and ensuring clear definition and recording of roles and responsibilities for doctors and nursing staff. You will participate in multidisciplinary forums to guarantee patients receive care appropriate to their needs and contribute to maintaining quality service provision.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Medical Qualifications
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification is essential. Full GMC Registration and a Licence to Practise are required, with registration via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview), CESR, or European Community Rights.
Specialist Experience
Substantial Community Paediatric experience is essential. Candidates must demonstrate clinical judgment experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk, knowing when to seek help, and ability to prioritize clinical need. Relevant specialty clinical knowledge and capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge relevant to the job are required.
Professional Development
Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development and lifelong learning is essential. The successful candidate will be responsible for self-development of skills and competencies through participation in training and development activities, maintaining up-to-date technical and professional knowledge relevant to the post.
Desirable Qualifications
Interest and experience in looked after children, adoptions, and fostering is desirable. The Trust values diverse experience and welcomes candidates with additional expertise in these areas.
